Create value

Want to make the world a better place and create something of value to others? You have come to the right place! IWANTTHEWORLD helps you in identifying what kind of value you want to create and provides the roadmap for bringing your ideas to life.

As explained in the famous Steve Jobs marketing speech, value can be functional or emotional. Functional value entails a tangible benefit, for example a faster computer which let you work more efficiently and run more demanding software. Emotional value relates to psychological benefits such as a sense of purpose, status, stress-reduction and feelings of community. Functional value and emotional value can strengthen one another. For example feelings of community can help a neighborhood to watch over one another and reduce crimes and garbage in the area.

This section of the website discusses both value creation in business and public space.

Value creation in business

Value creation in business encompasses the following categories and steps to take (start with ‘value creation’ and finish with ‘marketing plan’):

  1. Value creation in business: what types of business value can you create?
  2. Becoming an entrepreneur: the search for the right value proposition (i.e. your business idea).
  3. Market research: gathering information to fine-tune your value proposition.
  4. Writing a marketing plan: a roadmap for translating your value proposition in tangible actions.

Value creation in public

Value creation in public is about making places and neighborhoods better and encompasses a similar trajectory (start with ‘value creation’ and finish with ‘value plan’):

  1. Value creation in public space: what types of public value can you create?
  2. Becoming an entrepreneur: the search for the right value proposition.
  3. Market research: gathering information to fine-tune your value proposition.
  4. Writing a public value plan: a roadmap for translating your value proposition in tangible actions

As you can see, both value trajectories include developing an entrepreneurial spirit and the need for market research. The main differences are in the types of value you can create and the execution of the plan.
